Abstract (Swedish)
125 personer deltog i studien. (More)

(Less)
Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relation between personality, in terms of the Five Factor Model, religiosity, spirituality and psychedelics. The relationship was explored by a quantitative survey where the results were analyzed with the use of correlation- and regression analyses. 125 people took part in the study. The constructs personality, religiosity and spirituality operationalized with the scales IPIP-NEO 120, MI-RSWB-E and SEI-R. Overall attitude towards psychedelics was investigated with the use of two questions which was then compiled into a common scale; “psychedelics”. Significant relations showed between Openness and spirituality (r= .19, β=.20), Neuroticism and spirituality (r=-.20), Neuroticism and... (More)

The constructs personality, religiosity and spirituality operationalized with the scales IPIP-NEO 120, MI-RSWB-E and SEI-R. Overall attitude towards psychedelics was investigated with the use of two questions which was then compiled into a common scale; “psychedelics”. Significant relations showed between Openness and spirituality (r= .19, β=.20), Neuroticism and spirituality (r=-.20), Neuroticism and religiosity (r=-.19), Openness and psychedelics (β=.19), Conscientiousness and psychedelics (r=-.34) and between Agreeableness and psychedelics (r=-.20). The results opened up for an explorative research question regarding how religiosity and spirituality covariates with attitude towards psychedelics. Individuals with higher values on religiosity showed a more negative attitude towards psychedelics (β= -.49) whereas spiritual individuals had a more positive attitude (β= .32). The conclusion was that personality to some extent has a relation with religiosity, spirituality and psychedelics, which also supports previous research. Also religiosity, spirituality and psychedelics were variables strongly related to each other. The results contribute to a greater understanding of why individuals possess specific beliefs and have different attitudes towards different phenomena. (Less)
