Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this essay is to identify motivational factors that managers within
the banking sector can use in order to increase the motivation of their employees.
Theoretical perspectives: Three different motivation theories have been chosen to contribute
to the purpose of this study and to provide different angles of approach. These are Maslow's
hierarchy of needs, Herzberg's two factor theory and Motivation crowding theory
Methodology: The study has used a quantitative method, where the collection of data has
been executed through a survey that follows quantitative research. The survey is based on the
theories which therefore were chosen first. All the analyzed data has been primary data
gathered through the survey.

Result: In this section answers from the surveys are presented with charts and diagrams.
Conclusion: The analysis provides four motivational factors that are of extra importance, that
bank managers should focus on to increase the motivation among the employees. These
factors are “opportunity for promotion”, “meaningful work”, “working environment” and
“personal development”. (Less)
