- Abstract (Swedish)
(Less) - Abstract
- This study starts with the hypothesis that there are more teaching aids that are designed in
accord with Sweden’s latest curriculum Lgr11, based on science and proven experience in the
subject Swedish than in music. This confirms later in the study. The lack of teaching aids
means that teachers spend a lot of time on making teaching aids for the subject music. This
study examines teachers’ thoughts about how their lesson planning is influenced by the amount of teaching aids in Swedish and music. The study also wants to examine how teachers
think about the fact that they create their teaching aids themselves and how they review their
quality. The study was done with qualitative semi-structured interviews. The data was

analyzed with thematic analysis. The results of the study show that teachers see great
advantages with teaching aids. They see both advantages and disadvantages with making their
own teaching aids. The teachers want teaching aids or a “bank” of materials that they can use
and evolve when needed. The possibilities for collegial learning are less for music teachers
than for other teachers. Collegial learning furthers the quality on teachers' work. The
conclusions are that there is a need for quality teaching aids in the subject of music, and that there is a need to create more opportunities for collegial learning for music teachers. In the sense, the quality of teacher’s work can increase. (Less)
