- Uppsatsen syftar till att fastslå vilka regler som finns för polismyndigheten att förhålla sig till för att bete sig lämpligt på sociala medier. Då sociala medier har en närmast unik räckvidd är det viktigt att poliser beter sig korrekt för att inte undergräva allmänhetens förtroende. I uppsatsen används en kritisk rättsdogmatisk metod och fokus ligger på bemötande och beteende och offentlighet-och sekretessbestämmelser behandlas inte. Uppsatsen ser till vad lagarna säger om polisens uppförande och vilka regler de ska ta hänsyn till när de uttrycker sig, men dessa är inte anpassade efter sociala medier. Denna diskrepens kommer användas i analysen som kritiskt ser till reglerna och appliceringen av dessa. Analysens fokus är att å ena sidan underlättar sociala medier mycket, å andra sidan kan stor skada göras p.g.a. spridningen. Jag kommer fram till att lagtexten möjligtvis behöver uppdateras och att en bättre kontrollmekanism bör införas. (Less)

The essay uses a critical legal dogmatic method and the focus is on treatment of the public and police behavior, and confidentiality and publicity regulations are not addressed. The essay looks at what the laws say about the behavior of the police and what rules they should take into account when expressing themselves, but these are not adapted to social media. Therefore, the Ombudsman's decision will provide a lot of guidance. From those we can se that the police authority itself places lower demands on its employees than what the Ombudsman and the law seem to do, especially regarding the tone used. This discrepancy will be used in the analysis that aims to critically look at the rules and their application. The focus of the analysis is that on one hand social media facilitates a lot, on the other hand great damage can be done due to spreading. I conclude that the legal text may need to be updated and that a better control mechanism should be introduced. (Less)
