- Abstract (Swedish)
- This report investigates the impact of extinguishing sprays on residential fires, these sprays are a relatively new category of extinguishing equipment and therefore their actual effect on fires is generally unknown. Taking several factors such as human behavior and user error into account the report aims to give a comprehensive picture of potential risks and dangers connected to the usage of these products.
Furthermore, the arguments put forward by the authors are strengthened by experiments investigating extinguishing capacity and user reliance, combined with theories and calculations regarding human behavior, fire dynamics, and information provided by manufacturers; these results are the basis of discussion regarding the... Taking several factors such as human behavior and user error into account the report aims to give a comprehensive picture of potential risks and dangers connected to the usage of these products.
Furthermore, the arguments put forward by the authors are strengthened by experiments investigating extinguishing capacity and user reliance, combined with theories and calculations regarding human behavior, fire dynamics, and information provided by manufacturers; these results are the basis of discussion regarding the extinguishing sprays suitability.
The report concludes that extinguishing sprays have a good effect on small fires under controlled circumstances. However, the user being well informed regarding the hazards posed is required to use them safely. In addition to this, poor or otherwise wrongly interpretable information provided by manufacturers make up the main flaws of the products. (Less)
