Information was gathered from a literature study and by interviewing ten employees of Swedish fire brigades and four chiefs at restaurants.
No concrete answer to how restaurants in Sweden work with their fire prevention work and how well it functions could be drawn from this report. The systematic fire prevention work varied between different companies and some fire departments could see differences between larger and smaller restaurants, where the larger restaurants had a more functioning systematic fire prevention work and had better knowledge. But there were also comments that this also varied dependent of the owner and their involvement and engagement in the fire prevention work. For the restaurants the data basis is too small to make conclusions for the whole country, but answers varied between the interviewed. The recommendations and solutions to improve fire protection work were education, information and regular official visits for inspection from the fire brigade to oversee the restaurants fire prevention work.
