- Kuststaden Örnsköldsvik har, tack vare sin tidigare industrihamn, varit ett handelscentrum i Ångermanland. Under 1900-talets första hälft växte staden både befolkningsmässigt och ekonomiskt. Staden präglas fortfarande av vissa större industriverksamheter och sitt natursköna läge mitt i Höga Kusten.
Detta examensarbete behandlar en parkeringsplats i centrala Örnsköldsvik. Platsen ligger i direkt anslutning till den tidigare industrihamnen och har nära kopplingar till viktiga promenadstråk. Utöver sin nuvarande funktion som parkeringsplats inrymmer området två vipparmskranar som vittnar om hamnens tidigare industrifunktion, men som inte längre används. Utrymmet för allmän tillgång till hamnen blir alltmer begränsat. Detta examensarbete presenterar ett gestaltat förslag på hur den aktuella platsen kan omarbetas för att tillgängliggöra platsen för stadens invånare och att skapa en mötesplats som utökar stadens kultur- och nöjesutbud. Förslaget innefattar ett kulturbibliotek, ett omgivande grönområde med möjligheter för scenkonst, en badbrygga samt att vipparmskranarna tillgängliggörs för besökare genom restaurangs- och utställningsverksamhet. The spot is located in direct connection with the former industrial harbour and in close proximity to key walking passages. In addition to its current usage as a parking lot, the area also contains two arm cranes that have been decommissioned. During the first half of the 20th century, the city grew demographically and economically. The city is characterized by a few major industries and its scenic location amid Höga Kusten.
This master thesis discusses a parking lot situated centrally in Örnsköldsvik. The spot is located in direct connection with the former industrial harbour and in close proximity to key walking passages. In addition to its current usage as a parking lot, the area also contains two arm cranes that have been decommissioned. Other parts of the harbour have been subject to extensive construction work, primarily in the shape of private residences and also hotel and restaurant businesses.
The publically available space in the harbour is shrinking. This master thesis presents a designed proposal on how the spot can be reworked to make this part of the harbour available for the city’s citizens and to create a venue which expands the city’s cultural and entertainment offerings. The proposal includes a cultural library, an ambient green area with possibilities for stage art, a bathing jetty and also that the arm cranes are made available for visitors through restaurant and exhibition activities.
