Abstract
This essay aims to interpret the signs incorporated in the adaptations of fantastical and mythological stories from text to image how they are used and what that reveals about the view of medieval ideals in their respective image. It focuses on two different images depicting two different graves, each with a mourning queen and a dead king from two different stories, from two different time periods. Using Panofskys iconographic method and semiotic theory to determine the meaning in and behind the images.

Den här uppsatsen ämnar att tolka de tecken som införlivas när fantasy och mytologiska berättelser adapteras från text till bild. Fokuset ligger på två olika bilder, visandes två olika gravplatser, båda med en sörjande drottning och en död kung från två olika berättelser, från två olika tidsperioder. Panofskys ikonografiska metod kommer att tillämpas samtidigt som en semiotisk teori för avgöra betydelsen i och bakom bilderna.
