- Abstract
- This thesis looks at strategies for political control of state funded research by analysing the government’s research and innovation propositions from 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020. The focus of the thesis is on the tension between academic freedom, political control and use of research and democracy and whether the state in any way controls the content of research. The thesis also answers the question of whether the strategies differ depending on the political ideology of the government. Different forms of public administration control, based on Lennart Lundquist’s theories, are used as a tool for the analysis.
