- Abstract
- The purpose of the report is to examine the content of a sustainability certification instrument, developed by an organization in constructing industry called Citylab. And to explore how it is interpreted by those who use the instrument. The investigation is conducted to answer the research question: Requirements are set when planning sustainability certified districts. Is it likely that these requirements can provide sustainability in all sustainability dimensions? Studying the district in Malmö, Sweden called Elinegård. The research conducts an interview with the project manager for the construction developer Ikano bostad. And a content analysis of relevant documents containing project development, plan program, sustainability program and Citylab guide for sustainable urban development in planning and implementation guidance and certificate. The findings in the research show that even if the certificate instrument is handling social sustainability thoroughly with criteria’s, there is still some shortcomings regarding the social certification.
