Abstract (Swedish)
Entrepreneurship Education (EE) is key to innovation, social and economic growth. This thesis aims to recognize how graduates from the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Master’s in Lund University, who did not start a venture post-graduation, apply the program’s learnings while employed in private corporations in Sweden. By researching corporate entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship through these individuals, the entrepreneurship phenomenon is explored beyond the frequent limits that equate it with startup formation. We collected qualitative data by
interviewing alumni from recent cohorts and analyzed it through a mostly inductive approach. The research design considered the syllabus from this program, as well as published literature.

The study contributes to knowing more about how EE might be shaping entrepreneurial attitudes and fostering entrepreneurial activities related to innovation, and the ongoing research on the apparent paradox observed by studies about Swedish business where high levels scored in international innovation rankings are compared against low scores in entrepreneurship rankings. Our findings deliver empirical evidence that could help explain this paradox. Rather,
intrapreneurial activities hidden in established corporations, while excluded from
entrepreneurship rankings focused on new startups, might be the key to propelling national innovation. Individuals like this thesis’ research subjects, who demonstrate attitudes, skills, and dimensions associated with entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship literature, could be part of its driving force.

Our results suggest EE is beneficial for all business students, whether they start a new venture or not; in fact, it can be crucial for the innovation processes of existing organizations. This opens doors for discussions among policymakers and educational institutions to consider the wider benefits of these programs and their potential expansion. It also sheds light on how measuring entrepreneurship indices solely through startup creation might be missing a crucial element of
total entrepreneurial activity in Sweden or any other region. (Less)
