Abstract
There are many factors that are involved in fostering intrapreneurship in a company and knowledge management is one important process in achieving that. A previous study related to intrapreneurs’ knowledge management has proposed a framework that discusses knowledge management in various situations, focusing on exploitation, exploration, or in between, in the context of intrapreneurship. Building on these findings, this thesis aims to explore how intrapreneurs manage their knowledge in these two situations, referring to Drejer, Christensen, and Ulhoi ’s (2004) framework by studying six intrapreneurs from technology-focused companies in Western Europe. In this thesis, a deductive approach is applied by conducting semi-structured interviews... (More)

Building on these findings, this thesis aims to explore how intrapreneurs manage their knowledge in these two situations, referring to Drejer, Christensen, and Ulhoi ’s (2004) framework by studying six intrapreneurs from technology-focused companies in Western Europe. In this thesis, a deductive approach is applied by conducting semi-structured interviews to examine the framework. We also aimed to be exploratory to find new dimensions that could influence knowledge management . A multi-case study led to common themes and dimensions. Our findings show that 1) We examined the “Exploitation of existing technology” situation - the priority of exploitation tasks is supported, but other factors deviate from the framework; 2) For the “Disruptive technological change” situation, the priority of exploration tasks is supported; 3) There are a few dimensions deviate from the framework. Also, apart from examining the framework, six new dimensions were discovered and discussed : corporate values, corporate culture, attitude, time to learn, speed of the market and tools that influence the complexity of knowledge. This study reveals and adds insights into how intrapreneurs reflect their experience in each dimension. (Less)
