Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Abstract
The study aimed to investigate whether there exists a correlation between social dominance orientation and creativity. After a theoretical review of the psychological constructs central to the study, the three hypotheses and the scientific question are introduced; “Social dominance orientation co-varies negatively with creativity”, “Social dominance orientation co-varies negatively with psychological flexibility”, “Social dominance orientation co-varies positively with psychological inflexibility” and “In what way, if any, does the sexes differ in these correlations?”. Social dominance orientation was measured through the instrument SDO 7. Creativity was measured through a combination of the Unusual Uses Test and self-assessment scales.... (More)

Social dominance orientation was measured through the instrument SDO 7. Creativity was measured through a combination of the Unusual Uses Test and self-assessment scales. Finally, whether there were any overall differences in response patterns based on gender was examined. The study was conducted through a survey that was distributed online via a convenience sample and a total number of 385 persons responded to the survey, of which 181 filled it out in its entirety. The number of female respondents was significantly higher than the number of males. The study found no statistically significant correlations between social dominance orientation and the other constructs studied. The only gender difference was that men generally received a higher value on the social dominance orientation test than women. This study was exploratory in nature and no statistically significant correlations were found. The authors are of the opinion that further research is needed. (Less)
