- Abstract
- The aim of this essay was to examine how the representation of queer characters is presented in the swedish Netflixseries Young Royals. The questions at issues are how sexuality, class and intersectionality appears in the series. With focus on representation and queerness, the analysis is based on three themes: sexuality, class and intersectionality. Which has been analyzed separately and together and in turn connected to theory. Based on characters and scenes I noticed how sexuality, class and intersectionality in different ways appears through representation and connects to each other. How heteronormativity is shown throughout the series, how class has a highly impact on the characters life and with an intersectional perspective I analyzed how the two, among other factors as well, could be analyzed together. The conclusion of this essay is that Young Royals is a contribution to the development of queer representation in film and series that is an on going process. (Less)
