Secondly, the thesis aims to explore the accountants’ opinions on the challenges associated with the digitalization in their organizations and the future of accounting and management control. The current research findings on the area of digitalization in accounting and management control were reviewed and summarized. Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire with both closed and open-ended questions. In total, 41 respondents participated in the survey from 29 different companies located in Finland and Sweden. The empirical findings demonstrated that such digital skills as data analytics and spreadsheeting achieve the highest importance rate among respondents. On the contrary, coding is viewed as a less important digital skill in comparing to other digital skills. The way how digital technologies have affected the skill set of management accountant is one of the most significant findings from the study. (Less)
