Abstract
This thesis presents a numerical study of the emission of jets by a trapped Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC). The Gross-Pitaevskii equation is used for the simulation of this phenomenon. When the scattering length of a trapped BEC is periodically modulated it emits jets of matter. We study how the pattern of these emitted jets changes when a BEC is trapped in a circular trap, an equilateral triangular trap, a square trap and a rectangular trap. Furthermore, we look for correlations between emitted jets and the build-up of waves in the BEC before the emission of jets. The main results from the thesis are, for a BEC trapped in a circle there is a correlation between emitted jets and the build-up of waves in the BEC before the emission of jets.... (More)

But this correlation does not hold for BECs in polygon-shaped traps. (Less)
