The purpose of this paper is to subject to an examination some aspects of the Danish government's foreign policy during the first world war.

The first examined aspect of the foreign policy is the ways and means used by the government to try to maintain and preserve respect for the neutral territorial jurisdiction according to international law.

Another examined aspect is the question if there was a consistency between the foreign policy values of the govenment and the implemented foreign policy to maintain and preserve respect for the neutral territorial jurisdiction.

The result of the examination based on some cases from that time was that the policy to maintain and preserve respect for the neutral territorial jurisdiction was implemented with pragmatical flexibility with the use of available opportunities.

Another result was that the foreign policy values of the govenment had to give way to reality requirements in the concrete situation.

The results are consistent with the previously dominant view. (Less)
