- Abstract
- The aim of this study was to understand how the different parties in court judgments motivate the “best interest of the child” and how the power relations between the parties appear in conjunction with the LVU process. The method chosen for this study was qualitative discourse analysis of six different LVU cases from the administrative court and the administrative court of appeal in Sweden between 2018 and 2022. The power relations between the parents, the social welfare committee, and the court get visible through resistance from the parents and the power that the professionals hold. Even though there are laws that protect children's rights, the study showed that the children’s voices were not always heard. (Less)
