- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to examine social workers' experiences with New Public Management (NPM) in social childcare and their experiences with practicing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child correlated with the effects of New Public Management. The method chosen for this study was qualitative semi-structured interviews with six social workers from two different cities in southern Sweden. This study found that the social workers experienced that NPM has an impact on their daily work. These experiences can both affect the social worker’s working conditions and the clients. - The purpose of this study was to examine social workers' experiences with New Public Management (NPM) in social childcare and their experiences with practicing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child correlated with the effects of New Public Management. This study found that Concerning the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the organisational frameworks correlated with NPM occasionally limit social workers’ prerequisites to apply the Convention on the Rights of Child in their daily work practice. Lastly, the social workers experience that NPM is affecting their discretion by how the organisation regulates the social worker’s work practice, where standardization is one example. (Less)
