Being a manager and being defined as a good leader can differ in various organizations depending on the sector, profession, values and attitudes. The purpose of this thesis is to study management programs and how organizations work to implement leadership criteria and values into future managers. The purpose is fulfilled by studying the case of Primärvården Skåne and examining the essence of their leadership criterias and how it is applied. Furthermore, manager candidates experience of management programs in terms of leadership styles and competence is studied. The purpose is fulfilled by studying the case of Primärvården Skåne and examining the essence of their leadership criterias and how it is applied. Furthermore, manager candidates experience of management programs in terms of leadership styles and competence is studied. The data for the case was collected from semi-structured interview questions as well as documents and presentations from the organization and analyzed through the epistemology. The thesis analyzes documents of the leadership program and the perceptions of two program participants and the program manager. The study found that the programme is based on personal and transformative leadership in terms of what is taught. Furthermore, the study discusses how the programme could be developed by adapting it further to different professions in order to achieve improved results through the management training. (Less)
