The aim of this study is to gain the perspective of the employees' experiences regarding these organizational changes within Malmö City’s social services. The study’s focus is limited to the experiences regarding
preparation, communication, and opportunity for involvement during the change process. We have conducted this qualitative research using semi-structured interviews, furthermore using an interview guide.
The theories used are Kurt Lewin's theory of change and Karl Weick's theory of sensemaking. The theories have been used to analyze our empirical data. The employees' experiences indicate a lack of preparation, communication, and involvement. The result of the study shows that the employees find the implementation of the organizational change too sudden and they were not given a sufficiently clear explanation. They, therefore, did not feel prepared enough for such a change. The study also shows that communication was considered insufficient. Furthermore, the employees convey an overall feeling that they were not involved during the change process and that their views were not
taken into account. (Less)
