Abstract
Since the end of WW2 there have been very few attacks with chemical weapons. There have been attacks in the Iran- Iraq war and some terrorists’ attacks in Japan. From the beginning of 2010 there have been an exploding increase in attacks with chemical weapons. Why is that?
In this study based on congruence analysis I want to see if we can understand the use of chemical weapons in resent events by looking at the theory of implausible deniability. I have studied three separate events and compared them to the theory by using ideal types and indicators from the theory of implausible deniability and from the concept of plausible deniability. The three events are the sarin attack in Syrian city of Khan Sheikhun, the poising of Sergej Skripal... (More)
