This thesis investigates the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing sustainable business models in the construction industry, with a specific focus on an established Swedish construction company. The construction industry is a notable contributor to environmental impact, resource consumption, and energy use. There is still a considerable lack in research on the challenges encountered while implementing sustainable business models in the construction sector. This thesis aims to fill this gap by investigating the enabling conditions within a construction company that support the development of sustainable business models, as well as the particular challenges encountered during implementation. The research takes two approaches: a thorough analysis of current literature and a case study of a Swedish construction company that has made considerable progress in integrating sustainable practices. It explores the dynamics driving these initiatives and how management navigates the changing business models. This research contributes to a better understanding of sustainable construction, particularly in northern Europe, where regulatory requirements and challenges may differ from other locations. (Less)
