Abstract
This thesis aims to explore and shed light on food safety within the student nations at Lund University located within Lund municipality and Uppsala University within Uppsala municipality. The main question being addressed is, "Is the food served at these student nations safe to consume?".

A method surrounding review of control reports, survey research, and a literature review has been used to show this issue. In addition, the study also aims to examine whether there is a lack of education among the students who handle food at these student nations.

This thesis aims to explore and shed light on food safety within the student nations at Lund University located within Lund municipality and Uppsala University within Uppsala municipality. The main question being addressed is, "Is the food served at these student nations safe to consume?".

A method surrounding review of control reports, survey research, and a literature review has been used to show this issue. In addition, the study also aims to examine whether there is a lack of education among the students who handle food at these student nations.

The findings from the study indicate differences in how the two municipalities conduct their food inspections and in the levels of knowledge among the students. These differences can be attributed to various practices within each municipality, which in turn affect how students at the student nations understand and comply to food legislation.

The investigation also highlights the importance of both understanding and following food legislation, as well as providing education for the students handling food at the student nations. It appears that it is vital to raise awareness around these issues to ensure the health of the students.

The identified problem is therefore twofold. Firstly, there is a lack of knowledge and education among the students who handle the food, which could potentially affect the food safety. Secondly, there is a lack of standardized and uniform inspection methods between the municipalities, which may result in inconsistencies in how food safety standards are upheld at the different student nations.

By shedding light on these issues, this study aims to contribute to a broader understanding of food safety within the student nations, and thereby contribute to an improvement in the student life. (Less)

Det identifierade problemet är därför dubbelbottnat. Först finns det en brist på kunskap och utbildning hos de nationsarbetarna som hanterar maten, vilket potentiellt kan riskera livsmedelssäkerheten. För det andra finns det en brist på standardiserade och enhetliga inspektionsmetoder mellan lunds kommun och uppsala kommun, vilket kan resultera i ojämlikheter i hur livsmedelssäkerhetsstandarderna efterlevs på de olika studentnationerna.

Genom att belysa dessa frågor syftar denna studie till att bidra till en större förståelse för livsmedelssäkerhet inom studentnationerna och därtill en utgångspunkt för studenterna att kunna arbeta mot en säkrare livssäkerheten. (Less)
