Department of Automatic Control
Abstract
Surveillance cameras are used for video monitoring. To complement the video stream, different external accessories can be attached to a camera. The addition of external accessories brings certain limitations in terms of aesthetics and functionality. To overcome these limitations, an internal platform for connecting accessories would enable the creation of better and more future-proof products.
This Master’s Thesis investigates the development of a detachable twoway audio accessory and an internal platform for a panoramic surveillance camera. A structured product development method was followed, which resulted in a functional prototype. The accessory consists of a speaker, an amplifier, and two microphones for audio output and input. This Master’s Thesis investigates the development of a detachable twoway audio accessory and an internal platform for a panoramic surveillance camera. A structured product development method was followed, which resulted in a functional prototype. The accessory consists of a speaker, an amplifier, and two microphones for audio output and input. The components are enclosed by 3D printed parts with a geometry adapted to the camera’s internal platform. The mechanical fastening of the accessory is made in two steps utilizing magnets and screws, and the electrical connection between the accessory and the camera is made using pogo pins. The playback and recording are interacted with through a graphical user interface. Pros and cons of the resulting prototype are discussed, and possible future improvements are suggested. (Less)
