- This case study of the satire conspiracy theory phenomenon Birds aren’t real, aims to contribute to the academic field of conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theories have seen a rising interest in academia in the last decade. Negative outcomes of the rapid spread of conspiracy theories and misinformation are a threat to democratic struc-tures, institutions, and values. The Critical dis-course analyses found power relations between governmental institution, birds aren’t real and conspiracy theories.
