Abstract
The following study delves into the congruence of three major IR theories. Constructivism, liberalism and realism. It delves into this congruence by testing their compatibility under a single analytical framework. To best highlight these theories overlapping sides I have chosen to find variants of the theories that I believe to be most similar to one another. Furthermore, an idea analysis is conducted in the form of a dimensional analysis. The dimensions analysed range from ontological, epistemological, methodological to more concept oriented. To aid with this analysis I’ve created analysis schemes to visualize the analysis. At the end of the theoretical analysis I try to piece together the results and summarize my findings before... At the end of the theoretical analysis I try to piece together the results and summarize my findings before attempting to apply them practically in the following chapter.
The results of the study were mixed. Major congruence was found as well as the possibility of incorporating all theories under a single analytical framework but with quite a few adjustments needed. Furthermore, the actual practicality is yet to be tried at any depth so it remains to see how significant the findings actually are. Nevertheless I hope it can serve as a launching pad for future research within the area. (Less)
