Abstract
In this paper the concept of trust is examined in the context of insider acts, defined as actions performed by individuals misusing information they access through employment. Interpersonal trust as an isolated aspect is found to have little or no consequence for a perpetrator’s possibility to act as an insider, although it cannot be wholly disregarded as factoring in a larger social context not examined in this paper. Trust connected to organizational norms and behaviour is, however, found to be a constant factor in all studied cases, where trust in the integrity of employees can be connected to several problematic responses to risk behaviours. However, it is also found to be a requisite for functioning cooperation in large groups of people. (Less)
