Interpersonal trust as an isolated aspect is found to have little or no consequence for a perpetrator’s possibility to act as an insider, although it cannot be wholly disregarded as factoring in a larger social context not examined in this paper. Trust connected to organizational norms and behaviour is, however, found to be a constant factor in all studied cases, where trust in the integrity of employees can be connected to several problematic responses to risk behaviours. However, it is also found to be a requisite for functioning cooperation in large groups of people. (Less)
