Abstract
During the past decade the security policy situation in Sweden has deteriorated to a point where the circumstances resemble the early 1950s, which has created a need for a strong psychological defense. The population contributes with essential conditions to the country’s resilience through strategies and abilities. Citizens therefore have a special role in creating stability in times of threats and crisis. Therefore the purpose of this thesis is to study how the Swedish state has presented the citizen role in respect to the psychological defense during 1952-1953 and 2017-2018. The study aims to compare the time periods to find possible idea changes. The theoretical framework is designed by citizen norms and the thesis utilizes idea-analysis... (More)

The study aims to compare the time periods to find possible idea changes. The theoretical framework is designed by citizen norms and the thesis utilizes idea-analysis as its method with the V.D.P-Triad as an analytical tool. The empirical material in which the study is based, consists of official governmental reports and folders from government agencies where the result illustrates both clear similarities and differences in ideas. The conclusion of this thesis is that the state imposed a more distinct citizen role in the psychological defense during the first period of time, 1952-1953. (Less)
