Abstract (Swedish)

The two countries have experienced different economic growth which justifies the purpose of the study. This will be conducted using a 'Most Similar Design System'. The goal of this method is to exclude certain potential explanatory factors shared by the countries and instead focus on factors where the countries differ. After collecting data and reviewing the current discourse, institutions and education have been selected as the independent variables in the model. The study found that Nigeria has more developed institutions and successful investments in the education sector, which have contributed to relatively high economic growth. In contrast, Sierra Leone's corrupt leadership has hindered well-functioning institutions and development in the education sector, which have been major factors contributing to low economic development.
