- Abstract
- This study aims to examine how Swedish politicians employ rhetorical strategies during shifts in opinion. The study seeks to generate knowledge about how Swedish politicians strategically adapt their political messages to legitimize these shifts among the broader public. The study is grounded in a social constructionist perspective and focuses on a press conference where the Social democrats announced their change in position regarding Swedish NATO membership. To explore this phenomenon, a critical rhetorical analysis was conducted, with a particular focus on rhetorical context, argumentation, and style. In communicating these shifts, politicians heavily rely on logos arguments, emphasizing logical reasoning. Vid kommunikation av åsiktsbyten förlitar sig politiker i hög grad på logosargument, där logiska resonemang står i centrum.
