Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
Background: During parental-leave, occupations change, new routines, habits and experiences are created. Each activity generates an occupational value that is significant for the experience of well-being. Well-being includes physical, mental and social aspects. Exploring the experience of occupational value and perceived well-being during parental-leave, can increase knowledge about the need for occupational therapy interventions.
Aim: Examine experiences of everyday activities in relation to experienced well-being during parental-leave.
Method: A qualitative interview study was conducted with an inductive approach. The data collection took place with semi-structured interviews, eight participants were recruited through a convenience... (More)

Aim: Examine experiences of everyday activities in relation to experienced well-being during parental-leave.
Method: A qualitative interview study was conducted with an inductive approach. The data collection took place with semi-structured interviews, eight participants were recruited through a convenience sample. Data was analyzed with a qualitative content analysis based on the manifest content.
Results: The study resulted in four categories: Fun routines together with children, satisfactory results after completed household activities, spending time with others gives energy, solidarity and well-being, self-prioritization gives recovery, relaxation and well-being.
Conclusion: The results revealed a variation in occupational value and perceived well-being during parental-leave. The result indicates a need for further research to strengthen the evidence around occupational value and well-being. Knowledge of occupational value in everyday activities and perceived well-being is important for occupational therapists' choice of health- promoting interventions in regional and municipal organizations.
