Abstract
Exploration and inspiration: An altruistic approach
to material and trend in furniture is an explorative
project in trends and single-material furniture.
Through research of material strengths, weaknesses
and suitable uses of aluminium, the project aims
to shed understanding of a, for me, new material.
That is, to add a new material to my material
“vocabulary”.
Alongside the material aspect, the project takes
interest in unique, one-off display furniture - such
that can be found in public spaces, showrooms,
test kitchens and libraries.
By applying found knowledge, the conclusion of the
project is a display shelf and an innovative combination
and utilization of the material properties of
Swedish birch and recycled aluminium.
