- Abstract
- Intrapreneurship, or entrepreneurship within existing organisations, is crucial for innovation and competitive advantage in fast-changing markets. This thesis explores how intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors foster intrapreneurial activities among employees in the Swedish food industry and how organisational culture influences these factors. Using a deductive qualitative approach, the study gathers insights from semi-structured interviews with employees at seven companies of varying sizes.
The findings show that intrinsic factors like personal growth, job satisfaction, and a sense of purpose drive intrapreneurial engagement. Organisational autonomy enhances these by allowing employees to pursue projects they are passionate about, promoting personal and professional fulfilment. While monetary compensation and other extrinsic factors are important, non-monetary incentives like praise and constructive feedback have a greater impact.
Organisational culture significantly supports intrapreneurs. Key elements include open communication, trust, and adaptability. The study's limitations are its qualitative nature and focus on the Swedish food industry over a short period. Future research should expand geographical scope, use mixed methods, and conduct longitudinal studies to enhance findings. (Less)
