The city has lofty goals focused on bringing democracy to the space located at the street. Yet Malmö is also a city known for its lower socio-economically city areas, which have been named by the polis as specifically vulnerable areas or in the media with even less flattering names like socially excluded areas or no go zones. Whilst studies on this topic present a varied array of reasons for the creation of these types of areas and how to solve them. One issue that shows up in several international studies is a lack of transport that makes these areas isolated from the rest of the city. This study will focus on the proposed changes presented by Malmö stad, the municipality responsible for Malmö, on their policies with regards to promote and implement a fair and usable transport system based on a framework of transport justice. The study will go through, a summary of Malmö’s history, previous research into the subject of areas of social exclusion and transportation, three different cases or documents based on mobility in Malmö and then will finish off with an analysis of these documents.
