- As the global environment gradually deteriorates, developing green technology innovations for enterprises has become an important goal. The ESG concept of advocating sustainable development has steadily received attention. Therefore, it is essential to understand the relationship between ESG and green technology innovations. This thesis aims to explore whether the environmental, social, and governance performance of enterprises promotes green innovation and whether there is an internal mechanism of external attention between ESG performance and corporate green innovation and selects the Chinese market as a case study. This thesis selects A-share companies listed on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges from 2014 to 2021 as the research sample. The regression of corporate green innovation on ESG is established through a fixed effect model. The research results show that: (1) ESG performance promotes improving corporate green technology innovation level. The higher the ESG performance level, the more corporate green technology innovations. (2)There is an underlying mechanism of external attention between ESG performance and corporate green innovation, to provide suggestive evidence that ESG performance affects corporate green technological innovation by influencing external attention.
