Culture Clash - An Exploration of Cultural Influences on Furniture
(2023) IDEL01 20231Industrial Design
- Abstract
- This bachelor’s project investigates what influences furniture within different cultures. Two cultures are studied, the culture in China during the Ming Dynasty and the culture in contemporary Sweden. This is to understand their commonalities and in which ways they differ. This is then to be applied to a series of furniture. The project has a more explorative nature, however, it still follows a traditional design process. The result is a pair of chairs with explicit references to the Ming dynasty and contemporary Sweden.
