- This research investigates the integration of urban sustainability broad concept into the strategic planning of Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in Indonesia. As a newly planned city, IKN presents a unique opportunity to implement sustainable development from the beginning. By examining official documents and conducting interviews with key stakeholders, the study aims to understand the extent to which IKN's plans align with sustainable development goals and established frameworks. The analysis reveals a strong connection between IKN's strategic plans and several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, and climate action. Additionally, IKN's stratetgic planning incorporates key elements of the Urban Sustainability Framework (USF), demonstrating a commitment to sustainable urban development. However, further research is needed to comprehensively assess the overall integration of urban sustainability principles within IKN's strategic planning. This may involve conducting additional interviews, analysing more documents, and applying more nuanced methodologies. By addressing the recommendations outlined in this study, IKN can strengthen its approach to sustainable urban development and increase its chances of achieving its ambitious goals. Future research can contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of IKN's progress towards sustainable urban development and inform ongoing planning and decision-making. (Less)
