- Denna studie baseras på översättningen till svenska av ett kapitel ur Ali Larakis handbok The Practical Guidebook of Essential Islamic Sciences – A Commentary on Ibn Ashir’s Al-Murshid Al-Mu’in. Studien inleds med en källtextanalys som behandlar bokens kontext, innehåll och stil. Därefter presenteras initiala överväganden inför översättningsarbetet. Studiens andra del innefattar en översättningsanalys som behandlar översättningsproblem och lösningar vid översättning av islamisk terminologi på arabiska till västerländska språk. Syftet och frågeställningarna specificeras först, sedan förmedlas teori och tidigare forskning, därefter klargörs metod och material. - Denna studie baseras på översättningen till svenska av ett kapitel ur Ali Larakis handbok The Practical Guidebook of Essential Islamic Sciences – A Commentary on Ibn Ashir’s Al-Murshid Al-Mu’in. Studien inleds med en källtextanalys som behandlar bokens kontext, innehåll och stil. Därefter presenteras initiala överväganden inför översättningsarbetet. Studiens andra del innefattar en översättningsanalys som behandlar översättningsproblem och lösningar vid översättning av islamisk terminologi på arabiska till västerländska språk. Syftet och frågeställningarna specificeras först, sedan förmedlas teori och tidigare forskning, därefter klargörs metod och material. Med föregående som grund analyseras och presenteras analys-resultaten i form av en jämförelse av översättningslösningarna i källtexten och måltexten, i och med att både källtexten och måltexten har behövt hantera olika strategier för de arabiska termerna. Slutligen diskuteras resultaten i relation till tidigare forskning och förslag till mer omfattande studier i svensk kontext ges. Slutsatsen är att måltexten såväl som källtexten har använt sig av samtliga översättningsstrategier som beskrivs i tidigare forskning. Den dominerande översättningsstrategin är att islamiska termer på arabiska enbart översätts till målspråket, medan det också är vanligt att termerna översätts och därefter skrivs translittere¬rade inom parentes. Påtagliga skillnader finns mellan källtextens och måltextens strategier att översätta islamiska arabiska termer, vilket väcker en diskussion om den större övergripande terminologiska utvecklingen inom textgenren vid översättning till nya språk. Finally, the results are discussed in relation to previous research and suggestions for more extensive studies in the Swedish context are given. The conclusion is that the target text as well as the source text have used all the translation strategies described in previous research. The dominant translation strategy is that Islamic terms in Arabic are translated only into the target language, while it is also common for the terms to be translated and then written transliterated in parentheses. Significant differences exist between the strategies of the source text and the target text to translate Islamic Arabic terms, which raises a discussion about the larger overall terminological development of the text genre when translating into new languages.
