Titeln på detta arbete, Häng med i svängarna!, kommer från en av våra frågeställningar:
”Vilka färdigheter bör en modern trumslagare inneha för att vara så förberedd som möjligt
på dagens musikaliska landskap?” Detta grundar sig i en idé om att en modern
trumslagare bör införskaffa sig de moderna färdigheter som behövs för att helt enkelt
hänga med i svängarna, eller att hänga med i det moderna.
Som bakgrund till denna studie vill vi ta reda på hur vi kan rusta våra framtida elever
till dagens musikaliska landskap. Utefter detta har det utformats färdigheter som vi anser
att en modern trumslagare bör ha koll på. Eftersom vi snart är examinerade trum- och

Som bakgrund till denna studie vill vi ta reda på hur vi kan rusta våra framtida elever
till dagens musikaliska landskap. Utefter detta har det utformats färdigheter som vi anser
att en modern trumslagare bör ha koll på. Eftersom vi snart är examinerade trum- och
musiklärare ser vi detta som ett utmärkt tillfälle att själva analysera och diskutera vad vi
behöver ha kunskap om. Resultatkapitlet består av insamlad data från intervjuer med fyra
informanter som både jobbar som pedagoger och är frilansande trummisar. Genom detta
har vi försökt ta reda på vad en modern trumslagare bör besitta för färdigheter. Här delar
våra informanter med sig av egna erfarenheter och tankar.
I diskussionskapitlet diskuterar vi de olika färdigheter en modern trumslagare bör
inneha som har uppkommit under studiens gång. Diskussionskapitlets struktur är
inspirerat efter de ledord vi fått av informanterna som redovisas i resultatkapitlet.
Under studiens sista kapitel drar vi en slutsats av arbetets resultat och även vad som kan
vara önskvärt att forska vidare kring i detta intressanta och outforskade ämne. (Less)

Get with the groove, the title of this study, is derived from one of our central research
questions: ”What skills should a modern drummer possess in order to be as prepared as
possible for today’s musical landscape?” This question stems from the idea that today’s
drummer must acquire contemporary skills necessary to – quite simply – get with the
groove: to stay relevant and in sync with the demands of the modern music world. As a
backdrop to this study, we sought to explore how we, as future music educators, can equip
our students to navigate this constantly evolving musical environment. From this starting

Get with the groove, the title of this study, is derived from one of our central research
questions: ”What skills should a modern drummer possess in order to be as prepared as
possible for today’s musical landscape?” This question stems from the idea that today’s
drummer must acquire contemporary skills necessary to – quite simply – get with the
groove: to stay relevant and in sync with the demands of the modern music world. As a
backdrop to this study, we sought to explore how we, as future music educators, can equip
our students to navigate this constantly evolving musical environment. From this starting
point, we developed a set of competencies that we believe a contemporary drummer
should be familiar with. Since we are on the cusp of completing our training as drum and
music teachers, we see this as an ideal opportunity to analyze and reflect on the
knowledge and skills we ourselves need to master.
The results chapter presents data collected through interviews with four participants,
all of whom work as both educators and freelance drummers. Through these interviews,
we have attempted to identify which skills are essential for the modern drummer. The
informants share their personal insights and professional experiences, offering a valuable,
offering a valuable perspective on today’s drumming landscape.
In the discussion chapter, we examine the various skills that emerged as important
throughout the study. The structure of this chapter is guided by thematic words provided
by our informants, which are first introduced in the results chapter.
The study concludes with a synthesis of our findings and offers suggestions for future
research in this rich and relatively unexplored field of musical pedagogy and drumming
