- Abstract
- This thesis explores the electrification of the public transport sector in Kathmandu Valley using the Multi-Level Perspective framework and a lens based on Political Economy. It analyses how government bodies, the private sector, civil society, development organisations, and academia influence transition dynamics. Drawing on semi-structured interviews and fieldwork, it identifies drivers such as air pollution and policy incentives, alongside barriers including weak governance, fragmented infrastructure, and power asymmetries. Findings highlight the central role of stakeholder coalitions and institutional instability in shaping outcomes.
