The Development of a Foldable Roof Box

Abstract
This thesis project, initiated by Thule, aimed to develop a concept for a foldable roof box. The goal was to create a solution that is easier to handle and store than traditional roof boxes, which are often perceived as bulky and difficult to manage when not in use.

The project followed a design process based on the Double Diamond model,
Human-Centered Design, and Thule’s internal development process. To understand
user needs and behaviors, a user study was conducted using questionnaire,
interviews, and testing. This provided the foundation for identifying the target group, understanding user needs, and mapping out the market requirements.

choice of materials and construction, the concept was also realistic to further
