(2024) EKHS21 20241Department of Economic History
- Abstract (Swedish)
- India’s Female Labour Force Participation started declining from 2004-05 and fell from 42.74% in 2004-05 to 19.23% in 2021-22. However, in 2022-23, after the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Female Labour Force Participation rate was recorded at 28.26%. Against these circumstances, this thesis aims to characterize the nature of women's employment after the COVID-19 Pandemic. Furthermore, this thesis uses Probit and IV Probit Models to determine whether this increase is a result of change is a result of changes in labour-supply side factors. The results indicate that while there is some variation in how supply-side factors; it does not fully explain the surge in female employment.
