Abstract (Swedish)
Music’s diverse psychological roles include possible cognitive enhancement, however, results are either insufficient or mixed based on already existing literature. The current interventional study observed the influence of musical stimuli on time perception and sustained attention possibly explained by altered states of consciousness. 30 participants were assigned equally to two different musical conditions: (1) binaural beats exposure and (2) tribal music exposure. Sustained Attention to Response task and Time Reproduction tasks were operationalized to assess cognitive performance. Big Five Personality traits were introduced as covariates. A repeated-measures ANOVA revealed no interaction between task measurements and musical conditions,... (More)
