- Abstract
- The increased awareness of the importance of sustainability has paved the way for a more climate friendly future. But at the same time, biodiversity is at risk due to overstraining practices used by forest and textile industries. Do we have to choose one or the other when ensuring a greener course of action?
In this project, the aim has been to explore what can be done when combining only leftover material. By utilising what already exists, the mission has been to develop a piece of furniture inspired by the origins of its materia in hopes of normalising the practice of reconsidering the use of first hand material. Ultimately, the goal is to decrease our material consumption and letting our nature and its biodiversity thrive.

Alongside environmental principles, the use of traditional and manual making methods has been of great interest. With a wish for a deeper connection with the material, methods have been chosen accordingly. By understanding the material, the idea has been to tie it back to our relationship with nature and fully realise its importance.
With the use of emotional driven yet thoroughly selected practices, the result of the project is a side table for the kitchen environment made out of repurposed pieces of pine wood and leftover linen fabric from small scale productions. (Less)
