The selection of participants was based on snowball sampling. The analysis integrates theories by Erving Goffman, Aaron Antonovsky, and Raewyn Connell with several articles in the field, along with the results from the study. Results show that social support is key in helping men cope with the pressures of masculine ideals, like feeling lonely or lacking close connections. Men who had a partner generally experienced more social support and deeper friendships, while those with fewer social contacts reported feeling less supported. (Less)
