First, resurgence of conservatism in fashion; second, the wide range of aesthetic expression across the gender spectrum; third, a questioning of male-centered gendered aesthetic construction; fourth, aspects of exploitation and inaccessibility to keep up with trends; and fifth, an ongoing tension between homogenized aesthetics and non-conformist expressions. Together these surmount to an unresolved tension of hegemonic gendered aesthetic construction and non-hegemonic gendered aesthetic construction. (Less)
