Värdeprioriteringar inom svenska sjukhus

- Abstract
- This qualitative and comparative study analyses and compares private and public owned hospitals within the Stockholm region, based on Weberian and New Public Management principles and values. We also analyse the consequences of the hospitals’ prioritized principles and values. The examined principles and values are; hierarchy, legality and deviation management, professionalism, accessibility, efficiency and results, and utility. The result shows a hybrid governance model where private hospitals accentuate NPM values as performance and results to a greater extent, while public hospitals emphasize Weberian principles such as legality, formal structure, rule of law and equality. As well as the opportunities, the models entail risks. New... (More)

The result shows a hybrid governance model where private hospitals accentuate NPM values as performance and results to a greater extent, while public hospitals emphasize Weberian principles such as legality, formal structure, rule of law and equality. As well as the opportunities, the models entail risks. New public management may be risking equality, continuity and professional judgement, whilst the Weberian model may decrease the flexibility and increase the administrative burden. The hospitals’ operations feature values and principles from both the Weberian model and New Public Management, which indicates that there is a mixture of the previously named theories – Post-NPM.
