- Abstract
- This study aims to identify differences in media discourses regarding nuclear power during two
periods of time following big nuclear political decisions in Sweden (2011 and 2024). Furthermore, it
investigates whether there are any connections between the types of nuclear risks highlighted in the
media and the public risk perception. The results show that in 2011, the media coverage extensively
focused on physical risks with nuclear power and the effects an implementation of nuclear power
would have on Sweden. In 2024, nuclear power had become more of a practical issue and the risks
highlighted were primarily related to cost and time aspects of constructing new nuclear power
plants. These findings were used to produce two... (More) - This study aims to identify differences in media discourses regarding nuclear power during two

highlighted were primarily related to cost and time aspects of constructing new nuclear power

to read before their trust in the message and risk perception against nuclear power was measured
using a survey instrument. No direct relationships were found between the briefs and the individual's
trust or risk perception. However, men were found to have a more positive attitude towards nuclear
power. Taken together, the results show that an individual's risk perception and text credibility is
affected by many more factors than the message itself (Less)
