Denna studie undersökte hur längden på videor på sociala medier och videornas
innehållstyp influerade arbetsminne och inhibering. Totalt deltog 40 deltagare i åldern 20-44 år, vilka delades in i fyra grupper. Deltagarna fick se antingen en TikTok-spellista med ett flertal korta videor eller en längre YouTube-video, vilka innehöll informativt eller icke-informativt innehåll. Före och efter visningen genomförde deltagarna tre uppgifter: Digit Span Task, Flanker Task och Corsi Block Task. De blev även tillfrågade om ålder, kön, hur mycket tid de ägnar åt dessa typer av videor och vilken typ av innehåll de normalt konsumerar. Resultaten visade inga signifikanta skillnader när man endast jämförde testernas resultat mellan grupperna. Däremot påvisades ett signifikant samband mellan Corsi Block Task och informationstyp när frågesvaren lades till som kovariater, F(1, 31) = 4.19, p = .049, ƞ²p =.12. Slutsatsen för detta arbete är att sambandet mellan sociala medier och kognitiva funktioner möjligtvis påverkas av flera olika variabler. Därav behövs ytterligare forskning för att förstå dessa samband. (Less)

These were rejected when no significant differences in task performance were found between the groups when only compared to task results. However, when analyzing the Corsi Block Task with the questionnaire variables as covariates, a significant association was found between the Corsi post test and information type, F(1, 31) = 4.19, p = .049, ƞ²p =.12. Our findings suggest that cognitive functions are possibly moderated by multiple interacting variables and further research is needed. (Less)
